FOR some time now it has been apparent that the chance of the York electorate returning a Lib Dem council in 2007 is slimmer than an anorexic stick insect, so it is heartening to see that this has been realised by Lib Dem councillors Lancelott and Moore, whose letters indicate a career change into the entertainment arena as comedians (October 14).

Coun Lancelott supplies the laughs describing York council as "like any good business" as he defends the city centre car-parking revenue loss fiasco, then Coun Moore with definite surreal Monty Python influence extols the cleaner, greener city.

This despite Coun Moore sitting on planning committees that have waved through plans to concrete over much of the greenest areas of Fulford, Heslington and Osbaldwick as well as replacing the green oasis at the Barbican with flats and a late-night drinking den.

Given the arrogant, out-of-touch performance by the Lib Dem council with so many issues, it seems certain that after May 2007 we will see less of Moore and not a lot of Lancelott.
