PLEASE Councillor Martin Lancelott, don't insult commercial business by comparing it with anything the council does (Letters, October 14).
Commercial business has to compete for its customers and control its costs within the levels of inflation. How many commercial organisations increase charges year upon year by five per cent or even ten per cent like the council does?
The answer is not many, and of the ones that do, few survive the exodus of customers who go elsewhere.
If you along with all the other councillors think you do such a wonderful job, then why do you use the letter pages to sing your own praises? After all self-praise is no praise.
