IT SEEMS to me that the new system of recycling has been rolled out with very little communication. I now have a lovely green wheelie bin and my normal black one, but no information on collection dates, or what I am supposed to do with all the rubbish the council has decided it does not want.
It's all very well for the council to tell the people of York that because it has now issued new magic green bins it will only collect standard household waste fortnightly. Maybe the council would like to enlighten me as to what I am supposed to do with my household waste?
This house was filling the bin weekly, and giving me a green bin does not suddenly reduce the daily production of household waste.
I understand that the idea of recycling is designed to protect the environment, but does the council not think that this is a little ironic when now I will have to burn more fossil fuels in my car just to take my rubbish to the local tip?
Multiply this by the number of people who will be doing the same thing, and it becomes apparent to me that the rubbish collection vehicles would burn far less fuel, considering the number of houses that they serviced.
