York City Supporters' Trust are urging fans to step forward as candidates for a position on the Trust board.

The closing date for this year's elections is Friday and, unless more people volunteer, it is possible that the four vacancies will not be filled in December.

Three members - Graham Kilby, Kirsten Ovenden and Mike Shannon - have been required to stand down by rotation under the Trust's rules but are free to stand for re-election.

The fourth place that could be decided by an election has been created by Dave Potter's resignation from the board.

Nomination forms are available from the Trust website at www.ycst.org.uk/ycst_election_nomination_2005.pdf or the club shop.

Any member wishing to draft a resolution must also submit their proposal by Friday.

The election is open to all eligible Trust members and fervent fundraiser Ian Tyssen has signalled his intention to stand.

Last year, however, there were only four candidates for the four positions so no election was required.

A Trust spokesperson said: "The Trust could particularly benefit from contributors to fundraising efforts, communications, the treasurer role and general business experience.

"Unless more people volunteer, it is possible that there will be insufficient volunteers to fill the vacancies in December 2006.

"Please do consider standing for appointment to the Trust board to help run York City."

The Trust's annual meeting will be held on the evening of Thursday, December 15, at the Tempest Anderson Hall in the Museum Gardens. A fans forum will also be held afterwards.

City's current Trust board boasts 13 members. They are Steve Beck, David Cocker, Stan Collins, Terry Herbert, Ian Hey, Graham Kilby, Sophie McGill, Kirsten Ovenden, Steve Ovenden, Paul Rawnsley, Peter Rookes, Mike Shannon and Richard Snowball.
