I WOULD like to know what people's opinions are regarding the use of fireworks. I know there is new legislation, but it does not seem to have eased the problems.
I appreciate that around November 5 we may be subjected to the constant barrage of explosives, but it is now one week on and I can not understand why we have to be still subjected to such nuisances.
On Friday, November 11, there were loud firework explosions from 9pm to 9.30pm as if from some organised display, then further sporadic explosions from 10pm to 12.30am.
The next day, explosions occurred from what appeared to be other co-ordinated displays from 7.30pm to 9pm, then occasional explosions until the early hours.
I am not particularly bothered myself by these explosions, apart from being woken in the early hours or not being able to get to sleep, but I seethe with anger at the distress caused to my dog.
I would like to know what justification there is for such selfish inconsiderate behaviour.
My brother lives in Australia and he informs me that in most states fireworks are prohibited or are only sold to those who have a permit.
Why can't we have something similar here?
