Nobody takes stock like these pupils from Whitby Community College who picked up £1,000 for their school in the North Yorkshire leg of the Norwich Union Stock Market Challenge at York Racecourse.
They beat 26 other school teams taking part in the competition in which five virtual days of trading were condensed into two hours. Each five-student team began with £35,000 of trading funds.
At closing bell, Whitby Community College had the highest portfolio, worth more than £262,000.
Runner-up was a team from Huntington School, with St Frances Xavier school coming third.
This is the second year Norwich Union sponsored the event with backing from the North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership.
Its employees took part as traders running the dealing pit for the students.
Now the Whitby team goes on to represent North Yorkshire at a national final event in York in June next year.
