Supreme Serenade can hit a high note at Wincanton tomorrow by notching her first win over fences.
The six-year-old, trained by Philip Hobbs, was a prolific winner last season over hurdles and promises to do at least as well over the major obstacles.
There was much to like about her recent chasing debut at Aintree, where she finished second to the highly-regarded Star De Mohaison.
She was a real thorn in the side of the winner before she finally weakened in the last half-mile.
With that race under her belt, Supreme Serenade should be hard to beat tomorrow.
She certainly meets nothing of Star De Mohaison's calibre in the EBF/Tattersalls (Ireland) Mares' Only Novices' Chase (Qualifier). Richard Johnson has the mount.
Karanja will be a popular choice in the Hamilton Litestat Novices' Hurdle.
One of last season's leading performers in 'bumper' races, he went down by a head to Jeremy Puddle Duck on his hurdling bow at Aintree last month after the pair had drawn well clear of the remainder.
Although Karanja was a beaten favourite on that occasion, he lost no marks in defeat and there is every reason to believe that, with that outing under his belt, he can go one better here. Andrew Thornton again takes the mount on my Nap selection.
Thornton can also lift the South West Racing Club Handicap Hurdle on Laudamus for trainer Robert Alner.
A course-and-distance winner last season, Laudamus should have benefited from his comeback outing a fortnight ago.
Saffron Sun has been in good form in recent weeks for trainer Jimmy Frost, the former jumps jockey, and the ten-year-old has good prospects of completing a hat-trick of wins by taking the prize in the Hamilton Litestat Handicap Chase over three and a half miles.
