YOUR readers may not be aware that over two weeks before Guy Fawkes night, the Labour shadow executive questioned how decisions surrounding the display were being made by the Lib Dem administration, why the council's decision-making processes were apparently being bypassed, why the shroud of secrecy and what proper authority existed for the funding and allocation of resources needed for the event.
We are still awaiting answers to these questions.
Typically, the Lib Dem executive member for leisure, Coun Keith Orrell, displayed the complacent arrogance that has come to characterise the majority group in "hailing the event as a success" ("Gunpowder Clots", November 7).
Sadly, what should have been an enjoyable and memorable occasion was marred by the incompetence that has become the hallmark of this administration. Families in York have experienced yet another Lib Dem Let Down.
Coun Sandy Fraser (Labour),
Micklegate Ward,
Millfield Road,
York.
