THE Rices from Wheldrake are quite correct in saying the council proposals for the Crockey Hill A19 are irrelevant (Letters, November 11).
The A19 traffic flow is non-stop at peak hours, and there must be many more near-misses than the too-frequent collisions, as understandably desperate drivers shoot out through inadequate gaps.
The only solution is either peak-hour traffic lights, preferably with a motion sensor on the Wheldrake Lane side, or a full, not mini, roundabout.
Currently the situation is tolerable only because the occasional Good Samaritan on the A19 pauses a few seconds to allow vehicles out of Wheldrake Lane.
