I AM seething after reading Coun Jamieson-Ball's letter (Waste not, November 16).

Of course this initiative has increased our participation in doorstep recycling, because we have been bullied into participating.

I am not anti-recycling and obediently separate my waste into separate boxes or wheelie bins. I just resent the way that this has been handled.

We have been told (via reports in the Evening Press) that if we don't separate our waste our refuse will not be collected.

Our street's rubbish will be identified by the cart that collects it and by the position of the mound where it will be dumped, so if we don't do as we are told we will be letting our neighbours down because none of our bins will be emptied. Sounds like a threat to me. The doorstep recycling may have reduced the amount of waste sent to landfill, but the way it has been handled has rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way.
