YORK John Smith's Sunday Morning League division one leaders Marcia were made to fight all the way against lower division opposition Cueball Fulford in their Challenge Cup round two tie at Bishopthorpe.
After a blank first half, the goals came thick and fast in the second period, with Scott Clapham, Andy Battersby and former York City player Kieron Darlow finding the net for Marcia. Cueball's two replies were bagged by Darren Malloy.
Hounds still remain unbeaten in all competitions after their 3-1 disposal of Nestl Flag. First half goals from Jackson, Harkin and Roughley were enough to see off Flag 3-1.
Goalkeeping heroics were the difference in the all-division two duel between Shipton and Burnholme.
Shipton led 2-1 at the interval through goals from Robinson and Evans with Kev Thomas for Burnholme, who also struck again to take the tie into a scoreless extra time. In the penalty shoot-out, Shipton 'keeper Al Blake saved twice to send the villagers through.
Wigginton slammed five second half goals to oust Shoulder Of Mutton led by a Ben Coates hat-trick. Tom Coates and Craig Huggins also scored with Paul O'Laughlin replying.
Ainsty Panthers mauled Deramore Arms 5-2. A James Anderson hat-trick was the highlight. Tosh Reid and Paul King also scored for Panthers.
The shock of the round in the Where in York Trophy went to division five's Poppleton Road WMC who eliminated division three leaders Skelton 3-1 after extra time.
Poppleton opened the scoring through Adam Osguthorpe, but with only five minutes left James Robinson equalised. In extra time, Osguthorpe gained his second before a tremendous overhead kick by Roger Lorains finished the tie off.
Division four's Enterprise stormed into an early lead against higher-placed opponents Wilberfoss through Warriner and Holt, but Tomlinson and Ogle found the net for the division three side to edge the tie into added time. Enterprise though prevailed 6-5 in the penalty shoot-out.
Division four strugglers Castle Howard Ox had high-flying Copmanthorpe from division three fretting. Bastock opened the scoring for Copmanthorpe but Ox hit back to take the tie into extra time only for Neaves (2) and Lincoln to ultimately seal a 4-2 win over Ox.
Wanderers stay unbeaten in all competitions after a great 6-2 win over higher-placed rivals Acomb Celtic. The free-scoring Gary Newton hit a double, aided by goals from Darren Brandon (2), Dave Newton and Danny Coulson. Hufton and Rankeillor replied.
Gipsy Moth demolished Acorn 6-0 with doubles for Daffyd Poole and Darren Watson and solo strikes from Dan Oxtoby and Wes Brooks.
