TEENAGER Shaun Brown is on the fast-track to the top in motorcycle racing.

He won a stack of trophies in his first full season which saw him finish second in two championships and collect 40 pieces of silverware.

His campaign included victories at Mallory Park, Pembrey, Cadwell Park and Castle Combe

The 19-year-old, a member of the Elvington-based Auto 66 Club, was in the hunt in the last round at the New Era Championship at Snetterton when another rider crashed into his Honda CBR 600 machine during testing.

It meant the bike, which is prepared by John Warrington from Malton, was not in 100 per cent condition on raceday in which he had to finish first in all his races. He came second in them all and missed the title, which went to rival Kerrigan Reid, by a couple of points.

In the Auto 66 championship, he scored a dozen victories on the Elvington track during the summer after only going out on his bike for the first time in June.

The East Yorkshire flier also went close to winning the Auto 66 crown even though he did not compete in all the races.

His silverware is now being displayed by his main sponsor, John Thompson, in a specially built cabinet at Thompsons Traditional Fish and Chip Restaurant on the A64 at Hazlebush.

Next year the North Frodingham rider is hoping to compete at national level in the British Super Sport series and is looking to add to his sponsors. Anyone who thinks they can help should contact Brown on 01262 488775.
