CHARLIE Woodward boosted York City Ladies' hopes of another FA Cup conquest but they slipped out after letting Leeds City Vixens back into the game to win 6-1.
Previously unbeaten in all competitions this season, York faced their toughest task yet in the Northern Combination-topping Vixens but they made the best possible start as Woodward headed home a Sara Renfrew cross.
But the class of Leeds City, who have several semi-pro players on their books and are two leagues above York, soon started to tell as they forged ahead despite good work by man of the match Sam Knight in the City goal.
York also had a good penalty shout when Jenny Garnett was fouled in the box but it fell on deaf ears as York City left the Women's FA Cup at the second round proper stage after an historic run.
