IN response to Carole Tucker's letter about our new Archbishop of York (November 16), I was dismayed at her unwillingness to receive Dr John Sentamu as a Christian brother.
The comparison of holding a picnic in York Minster being like the traders in the temple surprised me, as I believe it is something that Jesus would have done.
He often evangelised and shared in fellowship with a meal, look at the feeding of the five thousand and the Last Supper.
In fact many things Jesus did made the Pharisees raise their eyebrows!
I for one am excited by Dr Sentamu's arrival in York. Why does how long someone has been a bishop matter to whether they should be appointed? After all Jesus' ministry only lasted three years.
I see it as a positive step for the Church of England that Dr Sentamu has a passion to see and work for a rival in York.
In today's society, when so many people are broken and need God, shouldn't we as Christians be supporting him and praying for the choices he makes rather than judging him?
