Shaun Derry will refuse to shake Micah Hyde's hand after the final whistle at Elland Road tonight as hostilities between the Leeds United and Burnley pair continue.

Derry is angry that the FA took no action against Burnley's Hyde, who was charged with violent conduct after an incident in the tunnel at Turf Moor last month.

The Leeds player needed five stitches in a head wound, but Hyde escaped a three-match ban at a disciplinary hearing because of insufficient evidence.

Derry said: "I am disappointed that nothing was done because there is no place for those actions in football. I am sure it will be a lively game and I say that with a smile on my face because I am looking forward to it.

"I will be very happy if we win but I will not shake his (Hyde's) hand at the end. There are players who get scores settled off the pitch but I prefer to do it by playing football. I outplayed Micah Hyde at Turf Moor, he knows that and he couldn't deal with it.

"If he beats me fair and square on the pitch he has done his job, but I don't have a score to settle. I am only interested in the three points. I won't be dragged into another battle. I am not daft. I don't go into tackles with any malice, I go in hard but fair.

"I am a quiet lad off the field but I desperately want to win."

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell wants both men to bury the hatchet. He said: "They are professional players. They must put it to bed because if they carry on, it can only lead to more disciplinary problems and we don't want that."

Derry believes United's amazing comeback from three goals down to win 4-3 at Southampton on Saturday can be a turning point in their season.

"We played like a bunch of strangers in the first half and embarrassed ourselves. We were told in no uncertain terms at half-time that we had let the fans down but we won our pride back. That can be a defining moment in our season," he said.

Liam Miller, scorer of the winning goal at St Mary's, is doubtful with a thigh injury and Blackwell will leave a decision on his fitness until the last moment. Sean Gregan and Rui Marques have recovered from flu and are in the squad but Ian Moore is still out with a groin injury.

Blackwell said: "Burnley are on a great run. They'll just play with one striker and try to make it very difficult for us. They are coming here with a lot of confidence but we are fourth in the table with a game in hand, so we are not short of confidence ourselves."

Blackwell has to decide whether to play two strikers or three, David Healy having come off the bench at Southampton to liven things up alongside Rob Hulse and Robbie Blake.

Paul Butler is available, as his one-match ban doesn't kick in until the visit to Millwall on Saturday.
