I WOULD like to set the record straight. Labour councillors are not anti-recycling, they are anti-Liberal Democrat.
Labour believe the Liberal Democrats should have stuck to their manifesto pledge and introduced a pilot scheme for expanding recycling in the city.
Labour had allocated funds for such a pilot in their last budget, but this was cut and the expansion of recycling delayed until this year.
Labour have continued to press for a pilot. This would have allowed a number of options to be tried out and residents' views on these to be taken into account.
Instead, residents have a short period of green collections that will not have settled in before it will be halted for three months over winter at the end of November and relaunched in the spring.
This will be counterproductive due to all this confusion and residents will be let down once again by this Liberal Democrat council.
