YORK John Smith's Ladies Darts League division one champions Cueball 'B' came unstuck as the reigning pairs champions Toni Smallwood - Becky Laverack secured a last-gasp victory for Leeman 'B'.
Cygnet 'C' kick-started their season with a resounding 7-2 win at Slip 'A' with Lynda Kennelly starring. Clifton 'A's Jo Hodges won a lone hand pairs in the win against Tramways. Wenlock recovered from a 4-2 deficit at Flag, Dawn Exton partnering Sarah Nicklin to secure victory for the visitors.
In division two, Tang Hall WMC's Ann Barker - Janice Storey set up a decider at Clifton 'B' for the club side's final pairing Barbara Ward - Jean Elliott to seal victory.
Woolpack set off where they left off last season with a 6-3 win against Sun 'A'. Sun 'B's Alison Buckley - Jackie Young sealed victory against Burnholme whose Celia Jones hit the tons.
Margaret Haley partnered Mary Dodsworth to wrap up a close win for Leeman 'C' against Jubilee 'A'. Shepherd 'B' polished off Slipper 6-3 despite some good scoring from Alice Turpin.
Last season's division three champions Britannia were sunk by Leeman 'D' whose Sue Smith top scored. Leeman 'A' recovered from a 3-1 deficit to beat Tap 6-3. Newcomers Jubilee 'B', with good games from June Peirson and Gemma Page, beat Volunteer 'B' by the same score.
Volunteer 'A' fared better with last pairing Pat Jamieson - Emma Cooper securing their match against Cygnet 'A'. Severus also left it late, Val Lon - Glynnis Simpson tying up victory against Mitre.
Sun shine brightly
SUN Inn went eight points clear at the top of York Phoenix Monday Darts League division one after a resounding 8-1 win at Clifton.
Chris Thompson hit a pairs maximum then added another maximum for 19 plus an 18. Tony Cooper supported him with 17 while 21-darters from Kev Walton and Jon O'Mara (x2) completed the rout.
Cygnet 'B' moved into second spot after skipper Paul Cooper gamed in 18 in their 8-1 win at Rose & Crown.
Cygnet 'A' took all the singles to defeat Ebor 7-2. Ebor had Mark Hartley out in 17 and Paul Armstrong with 21. Pete Leake was Cygnet 'A's star with a 17-darter.
In division two, Slipper's Bertie Bingham closed on 112 for 21 and Rob Platt weighing in with 20 and 16 to secure a narrow win at Mitre whose Kev O'Hara was out in 20 and Tommy Hair contributed a maximum.
Mick O'Leary closed out a 104 finish in an 8-1 victory against Old Ebor, while Angel and White Horse took the first five at Britannia on their way to a 7-2 victory.
Holgate WMC top division three after beating Lord Nelson 72 while a depleted Phoenix were extinguished by a rampant Sports Club who recorded a 7-2 victory - their first win of the season.
Twenty-one darters from Mal Davey (x2) and Pete Hill inspired Alice Hawthorn to a 7-2 victory against Wenlock Arms. Blacksmith's Keith Elliott knocked in two 180s in the team game as his side recorded a 7-2 win at Mount.
Mark Woodhouse was the best performer for York City Social club with a 22-darter. However visitors Flag 'B' had already taken the win with a 7-2 scoreline.
