I READ with interest the letter from Ida Mary Goodrick and have in my possession one of the bibles referred to (November 17). This was presented to my mother in 1911 by the United Methodist Churches.
The cover is embossed "By the will of Philip, Lord Walton. 1696". Inside the cover it reads "Philip, Lord Walton who died February 14th 1696 aged 83. Conveyed by Deed to Trustees certain property the income from which was to be devoted to the free distribution of Bibles and other books. It was his express wish that the recipients commit to memory the 1st, 15th, 25th, 37th, 101st, 113th, and 145th Psalms."
