CHILDREN from York's two special schools - Applefields and Hob Moor Oaks - took part in the recent Soccability Festival.
The festival followed eight weeks of coaching in both schools from Copmanthorpe FC to mark the club becoming a Community Charter Mark club.
The children took part in goal scoring, passing and dribbling skills under the watchful eye of former Premiership referee Jeff Winter. He travelled from his Middlesbrough home to present each pupil with a medal and certificate.
They also received water bottles donated by Yorkshire Water and fresh fruit bags from Tesco's.
Several children also attended a Soccability club session at Askham Bryan College sports hall as part of the partnership between Copmanthorpe FC, North Riding FA and Oaklands Sports Partnership.
Further sessions are planned for the next two Fridays from 6pm to 7pm and are open to boys and girls of varying disabilities. For further details contact Paul Bird, a coach at the Copmanthorpe club, on 01904 704256 or 07721 672976.
