ON Friday November 18 I put my green bin outside my home for the final collection of 2005.
Later in the day when I went to move the bin I noticed pieces of green waste hanging from the lid, on opening the bin only the first few inches of waste had been removed. I telephoned York Pride Action Line and spoke to a lady who took the necessary details and told me that the refuse department would try to rectify this fault within the next full working day. This has not happened and my bin has been outside every day waiting to be emptied.
After several phone calls full of false promises I have come to the conclusion that my garden waste will not be collected until spring when the new collections begin.
City of York Council has set up a recycling project for a majority of households in York and tells us we are to have more doorstep recycling in the near future. If the powers-that-be want a system that works they must adhere to the rules and policies which they made when the project was set up.
