WHAT planet do Mr Justice Peregrine Simon and Mrs Justice Dobbs live on? Reduced sentences for the likes of Hester and Darch show nothing but contempt for law-abiding citizens of York.
What sort of message does this send out to other criminals?
To suggest that Judge Hoffman had failed to take into account Hester's admissions and early guilty plea is not only an insult to a judge but also to the rest of the public.
It seems to me the likes of Mrs Dobbs will have never experienced her home being violated and I hope she never will. But it is about time people in her position realised they should be showing some compassion for the victims and stop showing sympathy to the law-breaking villains.
As for Mr Peregrine Simon, in the case of Darch, this person was involved in the crime of murder and should be shown no more mercy than the original sentence.
