THE Helmsley Group of Pocklington, the property investment and development organisation behind some of York's biggest projects, has completed the commercial property element of a £500 million mixed-use scheme.
The scheme, which is set to regenerate the Middlehaven area of Tees Valley in Middlesbrough, arose through a joint speculative venture between the Helmsley Group and national property group Terrace Hill to develop Hudson Quay 1, a stunning and prestigious 30,700 sq ft office building, close to the Riverside Stadium, home of Middlesbrough FC.
The three-storey glass building is the first building on site and has waterside views to the front, including stylish design features such a large atrium.
Plans for the second phase of the development - to produce a sister building, Hudson Quay 2 - are well advanced and these will also include an adjoining caf bistro within the atrium area.
Hudson Quay forms part of Manhattan Gate, at Middlehaven in Middlesbrough, which is one of the largest regeneration and development projects in the North East of England. Manhattan Gate will, when complete, comprise five office buildings totalling 142,500 sq ft of area for let and is set to become the business capital of the Tees Valley.
Ian McAndrew, associate director at The Helmsley Group, said: "Hudson Quay 1 is a great success. This flagship scheme sets the standard for future developments on the site. Benefiting from a waterside frontage, it offers an outstanding location with good road links and is only a short walking distance to Middlesbrough town centre."
The Helmsley Group is also involved in developing the Monks Cross North business park on the York outer ring road and commercial developments at York's Clifton Park and Holgate Park.
