I CAN only agree with Richard Gardener (Letters, November 28). I cycle to work every day from Fifth Avenue to Rougier Street, and I feel like I am taking my life into my own hands due to all the buses that use the same route.
I have had to swerve onto the pavement to avoid being crushed and slam my brakes on when the buses pull out from a bus stop with no concern for anyone behind. One day a bus driver, rather than wait behind me, pulled into the bus stop at a 45 degree angle in front of me, causing a potential accident had I not jumped onto the pavement.
If a cyclist is at a junction or a traffic light they will nudge your bike with their bus to make you move quicker, regardless that a pedestrian or a car may be in the way.
Who trains these drivers? Are they so desperate to get the drivers on the road that they remove all common sense as part of their training?
As usual I will have to grit my teeth and hope I get to work and back in one piece, keeping an eye out for the inconsiderate bus drivers who think they own the roads!
