THE vicar of Walmgate, the Rev Allan Hughes, has increased congregations at St Denys' Church by 40 per cent in recent months. Much of this success can be put down to the fact that, in Mr Hughes' words, "we're very welcoming".
On Monday, December 19, the church will welcome a new congregation - the Evening Press family. We are hosting our own carol service to say thank you to readers for your tremendous support, and to raise more money for the Guardian Angels appeal.
St Denys' Church is a beautiful venue, boasting the oldest stained glass in the city. A service of carols and lessons there only days before Christmas will be a magical occasion.
We've got the mince pies, we've got the church; now all we need is you. See you there.
