Copmanthorpe Primary School are the gym kings and queens.
During the last four weeks, every school in the Oaklands School Sports Partnership has taken part in an indoor athletics programme.
A series of festivals were held at secondary schools to determine who went through to the Partnership final, which was held at Millthorpe School.
Events, for boys and girls, included relays, long jump, triple jump, target shoot, overhead ball throw, javelin, speed bounce and balance.
Copmanthorpe came out on top in the Partnership finale after beating the four other festival finalists - Rufforth (Oaklands festival winners), Carr Junior (Manor), English Martyrs (All Saints) and Bishopthorpe (Millthorpe).
Each event was supported by young leaders from the secondary schools and forms part of their studies.
Millthorpe School girls finished eighth in the final of the English Schools' Cross Country Cup at a wet and muddy Leeds.
With only four runners wishing to run, they were always at a disadvantage as one of them was ill the previous week and only ran to enable the team to score.
Nevertheless this still represented a creditable result from 24 finalists and an original entry of more than 500 schools.
Out of 140 runners, Katie Hunter was an excellent 16th, Sophie Hunter 24th, Jenny Parker 37th and Jodie Spencer 83rd.
Tomorrow the York Schools' Cross Country takes place at Knavesmire, where about 600 runners will find the going very muddy.
The Intermediates (Year 10 and 11) start at 1.25pm. In the boys' event, last year's junior champion Iain Lynn (Manor) will be the favourite, while the girls' is a particularly strong race, with Vicky Needham (Canon Lee) and Vicky Graves (Archbishop Holgate's), who both placed well in last year's English Schools' Championship, last year's junior winner Laura-Jane Day (Holy Family) and Millthorpe's Katie and Sophie Hunter all vying for glory.
The Year 7 races are at 1.50pm. Tadcaster have a good girls' squad, but St Olave's can usually be expected to provide a challenge.
The Juniors (Year 8 and 9) start from 2.15, with Kieran Smith (Manor) looking a strong contender. In the girls, Laura Goodson (Queen Margaret's) should be a clear winner if she is able to run, while Millthorpe's Jenny Parker will be a threat.
ALL of the York Schoolboy representative football fixtures were washed out at the weekend.
This Saturday the York Under-11s will be taking part in the North Yorkshire seven-a-side finals at Scarborough.
The victors will go forward to the North of England finals.
