RIVERSIDE suffered double defeat in men's division one of York Badminton League, losing 7-2 at home to Clifton 'A' and 6-3 at Selby/Drax 'A'.
Daniel Woolfson and Mike Hourston led Clifton's charge with a 94-39 return, including a 4-15, 15-13, 15-11 win over Geoff Oxley and Craig Dobson, who scored all three of Riverside's wins against Selby/Drax for a 103-76 return.
Ian Sinker and Wasten Siallagan totalled 98-66 as RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' won 6-3 at Selby Jubilee.
Fulfordgate lost 7-2 at St John's but bounced back to beat Terry's 8-1.
George Noble and Steve Lawson headed the returns for St John's with 90-46, including a 9 and 13 win over Andrew Johnson and Matt Hobman, who then secured three wins against Terry's for 104-45, including a 17-14, 12-15, 15-7 against John Maddison and Richard Rodgers.
York RI 'A' reinforced top spot in mixed division one with a 6-3 victory at Selby/Drax 'A' and an 8-1 win on the road at University Students 'A'.
Michelle Hall and Scott Anderson won twice for Selby/Drax 'A' but lost 11 and 2 to top RI pairing Tim Jarvis and Nicky Milsted, who returned 92-62.
Shepherds 'A' opened their mixed division one account with a 9-0 home win over University Students 'A' in which Paul Nichol and Clare Forth took three wins in straight sets for a total of 90-48.
Nestl Rowntree 'B' hit good home form to beat York University Staff Club 'A' 7-2 in mixed division three, Brenda Drummond and Jeff Whittaker amassing 90-31.
Sheila Mackarel and Eng-Kiat Lim earned both University Staff's points but lost 11 and 4 to Drummond and Whittaker.
Tadcaster 86 'A' thrashed Selby Jubilee 'B' 9-0, Angela Darlington and Phil Zealand topping the home averages with a total of 90-38 points.
University Students 'C' notched up their second successive win by defeating RI Tuesday/Thursday 'B' 6-3. However, Institute duo Bill Clemmit and Kelly Lynch totalled 102-71.
