I HAD to write and say how appalled I was at the thoughtlessness of the driver who ran down four geese in York (December 8).
Did he not realise the damage they could have done to his car?
These birds normally weigh 9 to 10lb, but the overfed ones we have here could run to 20lb. If one had got its useless body off the ground before he hit it, it could well have smashed through his windscreen and injured either him or his passenger.
As it is I would think that his car has sustained some damage. It is unfortunate that we have to put up with this feathered vermin, but I do think that, while the numbers were good, his method was bad. Also some poor devil has had to clean up the remains.
While on the subject, should one put dead geese in the green wheelie bin or the grey one?
