MANY people do work for the greater good that is not always appreciated by those who benefit.
None more so than the teams of gritters who are out in force during the coldest of weather.
Motorists in the York area often like to moan about the lack of gritting during icy spells. Yet last week, during one of the coldest periods in memory, City of York Council spent £100,000 - one fifth of its annual gritting budget - on keeping the roads as safe as possible.
Credit where it's due - the True Grit brigade deserve our thanks.
