A York-based conference and meeting placement agency has won a top award from Siemens UK, one of the world's top electronic companies.
NYS Corporate, of Market Square, Vanbrugh Way, Heslington, won the Highest Value Of Total Savings 2005 award at Siemens UK's annual Supplier Awards dinner.
NYS, one of just three providers to be recognised for its cost-saving techniques at the ceremony in Worcester, beat off 30 other agencies to be awarded the tender to act as Siemens' preferred conference and meeting agent just over a year ago.
It was a big win. Siemens UK requires meetings for thousands of delegates annually throughout Europe, ranging from one-on-one meetings to large conferences and corporate entertaining.
As part of the pitching process Siemens' strategic procurement team asked for a detailed presentation highlighting the agency's individual structure, its method of operation and its cost-saving techniques. Daryl Pinnington, managing director of NYS, predicted his agency could deliver large savings for Siemens on their conference and meeting expenditure.
Less than 18 months into its contract, NYS achieved a massive 18 per cent saving.
Mr Pinnington said: "As a specialist in the booking of conferences and meetings, we have been able to meet, and hopefully exceed, the expectations of Siemens in not only budgetary terms but also the level of service we provide.
"Our six specially-designed cost-saving techniques have allowed us to demonstrate that we are leading the way in meeting the increasingly tough expectations of clients."
A team of four dedicated NYS agents work on behalf of Siemens ensuring that all booking requirements and contractual agreements are met at all times.
Dietmar Harteveld, director of Siemens' strategic procurement and logistics department, said: "We have been delighted with the level of service provided to us by NYS over the last 18 months. NYS offers a bespoke service enhancing the performance of our internal transactional customers, while delivering tangible savings through corporate pooling and central procurement governance."
