LEAGUE Two outfit Shrewsbury Town have expressed an interest in York City transfer target Mark Jackson.

City's Conference rivals Kidderminster Harriers are currently listening to offers for the former Leeds United defender and Scunthorpe skipper, who has six months of his Aggborough contract left to run.

Jackson is one of the Harriers' biggest wage earners, having been signed when the Midlands club were battling to stay in the Football League.

But Kidderminster are understood to want a small fee for the 28-year-old centre-back, who would be entitled to a free transfer in the summer.

KitKat Crescent officials, meanwhile, continue to closely following Jon Parkin's situation at Macclesfield Town.

According to the Silkmen's official web-site, former City striker Parkin has been the subject of a £50,000 bid from Chester and a six-figure package plus players offer from Lincoln.

The Minstermen will receive a percentage of any transfer fee as part of a sell-on clause inserted in the deal that took Parkin to Moss Rose in February 2004.

Macclesfield need to raise £257,000 by the end of the month after being fined for irregularities concerning a Football Foundation loan and club chairman Robert Bickerton said: "We have not invited bids for Jon and indeed hope he stays at Macc well beyond this summer.

"But it's only fair to all parties that serious offers which meet Jon's career ambitions and our significant valuation of him should receive due consideration."

City boss Billy McEwan also believes Parkin is worth a sizeable fee and is hoping that any funds the KitKat Crescent club receives from a transfer would be directed towards his team building programme.

He said: "I'd like to think that would happen. I've not spoken to the board about it because we haven't had a board meeting for a few weeks but I would imagine that any money that comes in would go towards the team because that's what needs to happen. The more successful the team is, the more successful the club is.

"He should be worth a good fee because he's banging the goals in. I saw him play for Macclesfield last year and he did really well.

"He's a lot better player than when he was here when apparently he was a big, heavy boy. He's still a big boy but he's lost a lot of weight.

"We will be very, very grateful if he moves on and we are watching the situation with great interest. We hope he moves to a big club for a big fee."
