Selby golfer Tommy Tomlinson has marked a sporting anniversary in great style.
Thirty-three years to the day since he joined Selby Golf Club he was appointed captain and drove in to mark his year in office on New Year's Day to the accompaniment of a brass band.
The 58-year-old will captain the club throughout 2006. He will be succeeded by his vice-captain Mike Sharp, 73, who will lead the club in its centenary year, 2007.
Club secretary Neil Proctor said: "There is always a good turnout for the captain's drive in on New Year's Day. The club puts on a buffet and a brass band comes and plays. The club house is full every year."
