Selby lost 20-7 at Bradford Salem but retain seventh place in Yorkshire One.
They were ten points behind by half time and twenty points down after an hour. They rallied in the last quarter to score seven points.
Salem inside centre Tama Collins opened the scoring with a try near the posts. Matt Booth added the extras.
In the last minute of the first half, Booth's penalty kick hit the post and went over the crossbar to give Salem a 10-0 lead.
Salem increased their lead after only three minutes of the half when Selby were penalised for pulling down the maul and Booth kicked the penalty.
Eight minutes later Tony Pemberton missed a straightforward penalty chance for Selby.
In the 55th minute, prop Andrew Pocklington had to leave the field after a knock to the knee. He was replaced by Paul Gabel. Dan Porter replaced winger Martin Protheroe.
Two minutes later Selby pressure resulted in a penalty on the Salem five metre line but the catch from the tap penalty was dropped.
Salem swept upfield and outside centre Paul Gleadhill scored under the posts. Booth kicked the conversion.
Second row forward Mathew Mills, Selby's man of the match, was outstanding in defence.
In the 73rd minute prop Richard Fuller barged his way over the line from a five metre tap penalty to score the try and Dan Porter added the conversion.
Salem's second row forward Jason France was shown the yellow card.
On the Salem five metre line in the 78th minute, prop Richard Fuller twice went over the try line but on both occasions he was judged to have been held up.
The match finished with Selby centre Shaun Austerfield beating man after man from the Selby 22 before releasing winger Sam Weller, who was tackled into touch.
