A POLICY of have-saddle-will-travel is the order of the day for North Yorkshire's most successful Flat jockeys tomorrow as they head to Lingfield, bypassing Southwell's banded meeting.
As part of a new directive on banded (low-grade) fixtures, the Southwell meeting is confined to riders who failed to ride 30 winners last year.
That offers the opportunity of more mounts for many capable jockeys, but for the likes of Robert Winston, Paul Hanagan and Tony Culhane, all excluded, it means a trip to Surrey and not to Nottinghamhamshire tomorrow.
I expect at least two of these three riders to score at Lingfield, with York-based Winston having double prospects aboard Glad Big and Blue Empire.
The former runs in the Betdirect Maiden Stakes and, with a recent outing under his belt, Jamie Osborne's four-year-old should find this modest event within his compass.
Blue Empire, a recent winner at Southwell, bids to follow up in the Daily Offers From Betdirect Handicap (division two) - but only after competing back at Southwell this afternoon.
Conor Dore's five-year-old looks in good heart, but punters should monitor his performance this afternoon before making a final judgement about his chances tomorrow.
Former Newmarket jockey Russell Price, now a trainer, can clinch the opening race with Nap selection Captain Darling (12.05).
The six-year-old has won two of his last three starts. Smart apprentice Eddie Creighton reduces his weight by 3lb, which should help his cause.
