IF I understand R Hutchinson's letter correctly, he seems to be complaining that rail tickets to London no longer allow you to use the Tube once you get there (January 9).
With the exception of some heavily restricted tickets that have to be booked months in advance, restrict you to a specific train and can only be used at antisocial times, the price of a return journey from York to London ranges between £167 and £307, according to the National Rail Enquiries website.
That's roughly double the cost of making the equivalent trip by road or air.
If someone is willing to blow that sort of money on using the most expensive form of transport in existence, I can't see them worrying about a couple of quid for a Tube ticket, somehow.
