COACH Phil Pool saw his New Earswick ARL Club's Under-13s team beat Shawcross Sharks 16-10 - then dedicated the win to his old York RL team-mate, St John Ellis, whose funeral was held at York Minster on Tuesday.
Man of the match Joe Dey had a 'pay dey' with a hat-trick of tries in a game littered with unforced errors.
Although 10-8 down at half time, an increase in tempo, plus some solid defending, turned things round for All Blacks.
Dean Layton scored the last try to seal a fifth successive victory, while hooker Jake Atkinson and Kieran O'Malley shared the most improved award.
Bulldogs bitten
Selby Warriors U13s had ten players unavailable but still gained revenge over Wetherby Bulldogs with a 36-28 win.
Selby's first-half tries came from in-form Shaun Bell, prop Josh Skilbeck, after a fine passing move, and man of the match Connor Smith, before Wetherby scored five tries without reply in the middle of the game to go ahead.
But the Warriors regained control to score further tries through Skilbeck, who completed a hat-trick, top tackler Danny Bate and Bell.
Most improved players were James Morris and Jimmy Brace, while Sharpe (3) and Javen Copeland added goals.
Caught cold
A POOR first half cost New Earswick U16s dear in their 36-12 defeat at leaders Milford.
Only great defence from captain Dan Lofthouse and Shaun McArther restricted Milford's lead to 22-0 at the break. Jack Sinclair's dive on a Pat Smith grubber started Earswick's fightback.
Good work down the left by Jack Wren and Chris Elcock set up the next try for prop Bri Wright with Sinclair again adding the extras, but it was not enough as Milford hung on for victory.
