I AM writing in support of Stagecoach Youth Theatre York.
It would be preposterous to allow the demise of an organisation that over a period of 13 years has achieved such a consistent standard of excellence.
One only has to join the audience at any performance to appreciate the consummate skill, and to witness the dedication and enthusiasm of all participants.
Surely in today's climate, where increasing emphasis is being placed on the importance of our youth having valuable proactive extra-curricular activity, this is precisely the type of venture that should attract increased public funding.
There is an enormous amount of public feeling about the proposed cuts, as is evidenced by the petition.
In fact, my daughter, who has worked with Stagecoach while studying for her degree in York, has given up her job at Her Majesty's Theatre, London, to return and support Stagecoach.
