FORMER York City striker David McNiven has rejoined Scarborough and was scheduled to play in their crunch Conference clash at Southport today.
The 27-year-old has been released by Scottish side Queen of the South and Boro boss Neil Redfearn was planning to put him straight into the side for the six-pointer between the two struggling clubs.
McNiven scored two goals in five starts in Boro's last season in the Football League and also had a spell with York City
Redfearn said: "David is a proven striker at this level and when you consider that he scored 26 goals in a struggling Leigh side I am hopeful that he will be the answer to our striking problems."
Meanwhile, Redfearn could be missing talented defender Rob Atkinson for today's crucial clash due to a defensive injury crisis at his club Barnsley.
