Pocklington were left gutted when visitors Dinnington grabbed the winning try four minutes into injury time to take a 27-23 victory in Yorkshire 2.
The two teams have been neck and neck all season - they have leapfrogged each other seven times - and they produced an absorbing game at Percy Road that went one way and then the other to keep everyone on tenterhooks.
Pocklington struck first after ten minutes when they turned over possession and Guy Hope's cute cross-kick left winger Tim Nixon in acres of space to score.
Dinnington equalised somewhat luckily when a dropped pass was turned into a perfect kick-ahead for a try and, though Pocklington got a second try from Nixon after excellent long passing from the backs, they regularly incurred the referee's displeasure at the breakdown and Dinnington's two penalties gave them a single point interval lead 11-10.
It remained end-to-end stuff in the second half with the strong-running Nixon charging over for his hat-trick and teenage full-back Nick Bennett kicking a conversion and two penalties.
But Pock failed to close the game despite leading by five points with two minutes of normal time to go.
Dinnington's fourth penalty kick of the day put them within striking distance then they turned over possession to probe in the right corner and grab their last-ditch winner from a close-range lineout.
