YORK City manager Billy McEwan was to have another look at trialist Sam Lancaster today in the reserve game at Scunthorpe United.
Midfielder Lancaster, who has been released by Chesterfield after struggling to break into the first team, had his first City run-out in the behind-closed-doors game at Gainsborough last week, which City lost 2-1.
Lancaster's contract with the Spireites ended over New Year, with the club deciding last month not to offer a new deal. McEwan, though, has given the 19-year-old, a possible lifeline.
Nathan Peat has another run as he gets match fit after his broken leg.
City reserves: Reid, Law, Peat, A Trialist (Lancaster), Staley, Hollinsworth, Bertos, Webster, Yalcin, Winn, Stewart. Subs: Rhodes, Phillips, Wrigley, Walsh, Smith.
