HAVE I missed something of vital importance? City of York Council is withdrawing financial support from Stagecoach, closing a senior citizen's home, cutting back on meals on wheels, can no longer afford four special needs teaching aids, and probably has more little closures waiting for us.
So where is the money coming from to build the new council offices and fund all the new enterprises the council has planned?
It constantly knocks down interesting buildings in York and receives huge sums of money from property builders. Surely that is wisely invested for the citizens of York so that the facilities are available as and when we come to need entertaining, educating, hospital and medical care, a home and decent meals. Perhaps a few lesser council expenses could be added to the bottomless and endless purse the council thinks the citizens of York have and we could all have a share. I have absolutely no faith in York council and am constantly disappointed by it.
Mrs Mary Morrod,
Heworth Village,
