YORKON, the York-based Portakabin subsidiary - winner of the Off-site Manufacturing Specialist Of The Year award for the third consecutive year - has just been awarded two new office building contracts worth about £2 million.

The firm is to design and build at its factory in Huntington Road two-storey replacement offices for the Highways Agency at West Cowick in East Yorkshire.

CarillionWSP, which is responsible for the management, maintenance and improvement of motorways and trunk roads throughout Yorkshire, will occupy the building.

The offices will be in 24-hour use by about 40 staff. Facilities will include individual offices, reception, meeting and training rooms, kitchen and drinks preparation areas and a platform lift.

Yorkon's second contract is to provide a two-storey office building for Air Liquide UK - one of the world's leading suppliers of industrial and medical gases.

The scheme in Coleshill near Birmingham, is due for completion in Spring 2006 and is designed with the flexibility to accommodate a third storey to meet the company's future requirements and expansion.

The use of off-site construction will ensure the offices will be ready in just five months in time for occupation by staff.
