A RARE opportunity to see some of York's world-renowned medieval pots - alongside the contemporary pots they inspired - is taking place at the Yorkshire Museum.
The exhibition, entitled Magnificent Pitchers, is a new look at some of the city's most exciting ceramics.
The exhibits, displayed on the museum's upper balcony, will include the best ancient and modern examples from its 13,000 piece collection.
On show from January 28 until Easter, it will be the first time the medieval pots have been displayed together with their modern counterparts.
Helen Walsh, assistant curator of decorative arts, said: "This is a rare opportunity to see the pots out and displayed next to the contemporary studio pots they inspired.
"It should attract lots of potters and be of interest to pottery enthusiasts, students and the general public."
