York City's new French striker Tcham N'Toya has vowed not to leave the English game until he has made his name this side of the Channel.
The former Troyes forward proved a big hit with City fans in his man-of-the-match performance during Saturday's unlucky 2-1 home defeat against Grays Athletic and is looking to get on the goal trail against Southport at KitKat Crescent tonight (7.45pm).
The forward is not only hoping to leave his mark at City but also bring himself to the attention of all football fans in this country.
Minstermen loan signing N'Toya has seen his chances at Chesterfield limited to seven appearances this season due to the League One play-off contenders' form and his current contract at the Derbyshire club expires at the end of the season.
But the 22-year-old attacker made an encouraging start to his Saltergate career and still believes he can make an impact in the English game.
He said: "I want to stay in England and I promised myself when I came here that I will only leave England when everybody knows my name. I know I have the ability to do that.
"I don't think I am the new Thierry Henry or anything but I just want to make my way. I want to show people who I am and what I can do.
"I have got a contract until the end of the season at Chesterfield and I don't know what will happen then. The manager has said it's not really my fault that I am not playing because the lads up front are doing well and they are having a good season but I just want to play and then we will have to see."
A permanent move to York has not yet been discussed by either club or player but N'Toya admitted that he was impressed with the standard of his new team-mates on his debut.
He said: "People might say this and that about Conference football but I was very impressed. The team plays football, the tempo was high and there are some very good players here.
"I have got one month here and I want to play every game so I can gain match fitness. I am here for four or five more games and I would like to win every one. This is a new team and I think it has a good spirit."
N'Toya, who has promised to perform his somersaulting celebration if he scores during his loan spell at City, added that he felt his new team were extremely unfortunate to lose on his debut.
He said: "I can't really believe we lost. We had a lot of ball and had more chances than them but the final result is all that counts in football. Football is very magical but the luck was with them.
"I tried to give everything for my team so I was pleased with that but I would have been happier if I had scored and we had won."
N'Toya is also pleased to be linking up with Billy McEwan again after previously playing as a trialist for Derby reserves under the City boss.
He said: "Derby had lots of strikers at the time so he advised me to go to Chesterfield but now, one-and-a-half years later, I am back with him."
