CITY of York Hockey Club's 'B'-team upstaged their 'A'-ranks to join Harrogate in the Yorkshire Under-11 boys' mini-hockey finals.
The 'A'-team, comprising U12 'A' and 'B' players, were at a disadvantage in the North Yorkshire championships as they were brought together solely for the tournament, whereas the 'B'-team have played all term as the U10 'A'-team.
York 'A' started their campaign with a 2-1 win over Thirsk, Robert Abell and Peter Fitton, who beat four players, scoring.
But against Harrogate, York 'A' crashed 7-0.
The York 'B' outfit lost 4-0 to Harrogate, but rallied to beat Thirsk 4-0. Lewis Inman bagged two goals with one apiece for Nathan Wilson and Matt Hays.
The 'B'-ranks surged to the same scoreline to beat York 'A'. Twice Wilson teed up goals for hat-trick ace Inman to clinch a place alongside hosts Harrogate in the March 5 finals.
