JUNIOR rowers from York City Rowing Club collected a pile of medals at the Boston Head of the River race over 3,000 metres on the River Witham in Lincolnshire.
The river was unusually low but there was very little wind and the conditions remained constant for all three divisions.
James Reeder, racing for the first time in a single scull at a head race, won J14 Single sculls.
The quad of Owen Harrison, Chris Wright, Robert McKenzie and Johnnie Moss, coxed by Alice Hood, beat opposition from two Bedford Schools crews, Derby RC and Doncaster RC, to take the honours in the J15 coxed quad sculls. It was a first win for Moss who has only been sculling for six months.
York's dominance was reflected in the J15 Double sculls where Wright and McKenzie beat fellow club crew Reeder and Harrison, who were rowing in a higher status as they are still only J14, in the final.
The juniors' efforts were well supported by senior sculler Dan Clarke who won Men's Senior 2 single sculls.
YCRC crews are in full training for forthcoming events in the bigger boats of eights and fours.
