HONEYMOONS are usually a time for relaxation and spending some intimate time with your new partner.
But this York couple plan to spend theirs cycling across Cambodia, for charity.
Simon Murphy and Jules Wyman are about to face the challenge of a lifetime, as they embark on a 400-mile trek in South-East Asia, raising cash for cerebral palsy charity Scope.
The couple, from Burnholme, are getting married at Monk Fryston Hall Hotel in April before flying out to Cambodia in November.
Jules, 33, a confidence and life coach, said: "I did a charity hike across Peru with Scope a couple of years ago. I told Simon all about it and when we decided to get married, he suggested we do something similar for our honeymoon.
"Neither of us are the kind of people who just like sitting around, so we wanted to do something a bit different - and mad.
"I don't have a specific reason for supporting Scope, but I think as a charity, they don't just look at cerebral palsy as a disability, they look at the issues around that, such as employment rights and that kind of thing.
"And they organise their events very well - it's planned almost like a military operation, so you don't have to worry about the logistics, you can concentrate on the challenge itself." Simon and Jules will be among a group of 50 to 60 cyclists. They have to raise £5,200 between them before the trek.
Simon, 43, a mortgage advisor, said: "We've been very fortunate in that Next Generation gym have given us free membership for a year, so we've been training there for a couple of months, which is fantastic.
"And the company I work for, Ardent Finance, have been a great help in sponsoring us."
Simon proposed to Jules at the Whitby Music Festival in October, 2004. They first met at a weekend course in York four years ago.
Family and friends are sponsoring them rather than buying wedding gifts, and the couple are planning fundraising events for later in the year.
People can donate money at www.justgiving.com/juleswyman, or by phoning Simon on 07952 965865.
As well as sponsorship, they are also looking for help with bike accessories, like peddle clips, water bottles, shorts, gloves, comfortable saddles and helmets.
