THE race for the York John Smith's Sunday Morning Football League division one title is hotting up.

The leadership has changed hands yet again as Marcia suffered a shock 2-1 defeat against lowly Nestl Flag which saw them knocked off the top of the table.

Peter Laidlaw had put Flag ahead by the break and after Marcia missed a penalty, Terry Kettle sealed the points for Flag late on. Ian Kettlewell netted for Marcia.

Unbeaten Hounds are the new leaders after their 5-3 victory over Selby Olympia WMC thanks to goals from Harkin (2), Roughley (2) and Carmody. Andy Addison, Chris Burton and Steve Jeff were on target for Olympia.

Ainsty Panthers stayed in the hunt with a 4-1 victory over Pocklington, Paul King scoring all four Panthers goals. Pock's consolation came via a Bond penalty.

Acomb WMC ran riot in their 10-1 hammering of Thorpe United with goals fromDanny Gray (4), Neil Ducey (3), Karl Young (2) and Darren Callaghan. Nestl Volunteers registered a 3-1 win over Wigginton Grasshoppers thanks to goals from Lee, Bonarius and Raynor.

Shipton cemented their place at the top of division two after a 4-2 win over Haxby Lions which saw Blake grab a hat-trick for the leaders. Stilgoe scored Shipton's other goal with Drummond and Cruddas getting Haxby's goals.

Cueball Fulford were pushed all the way by visitors Hemingbrough before running out 3-2 winners. On target for Cueball were Turner, Sargent and Chapman with Jack and Tom Bennett on the mark for 'Boro.

York Nomads defeated Deramore Arms 5-3 with goals by Stimpson, Cruddas, Bradley, Skippen and Smith.

Dan Edmondson scored for Shoulder Of Mutton after only 50 seconds in their game with Bishopthorpe as Mutton emerged 4-2 victors with Jason Bryan, Adam Bruce and Shaun Charlton completing the scoring. Wigley netted both Shoulder's goals.

Division three leaders Skelton maintained their grip at the top with a 4-0 win over Inland Revenue thanks to goals by Shaun Robinson (2), Carl O'Brien and Mike Heels.

Copmanthorpe suffered a dent in their promotion push losing 5-2 to Bay Horse Tadcaster, whose Pitts netted a hat-trick. Both Cop's goals came from penalties by Del Neaves.

Three goals in a blistering ten-minute spell saw Heworth turn a 4-2 deficit against Selby Olympia Reserves into a 5-4 victory. Matthew Coop (2), Darren Heels, James Dexter and Grant Dunnington's spectacular 25-yard volley did the trick for Heworth. On target for Selby were Cawkill, Sweeting, Chambers and Howden.

Acomb Celtic stayed in the race for promotion with a 2-0 win over F1 Racing thanks to an Ian Hufton double.

Albion Vaults have become new leaders of division four following the resignation of Castle Howard Ox.

They moved to the top after Ox's record was expunged and marked their new-found status with a 7-0 thrashing of Rumours with goals from Adam Durning (4), Andy White (2) and Lee Ward.
