REGULAR Melbourne 'keeper Adam Thomas traded in his gloves for goals at Clifton but it counted for little as his nine-man team went down 10-4 inthe York Sunday Afternoon league division one.
Melbourne kicked off with just ten men and had another dismissed after 15 minutes for swearing at the referee and Clifton were 3-0 up by half-time, adding another seven in the second period.
On target for Clifton were David Jones (3), Daniel Coombs (2), Paul Bedingham, Kevin Butler, Mark Cairns, Terry Taylor and Shane Turner.
Thomas scored two from the halfway line with a third disallowed, while Thomas Hoole and John Nesbitt added the other two.
The Huntington 'keeper was also on the scoresheet with a last-minute equaliser against ten-man St John's College. New signing Simon Jacobs and a David Norris penalty put St John's ahead before Stuart Phillips and 'keeper Steve Auton levelled it.
Wills Bar and The Walnut Tree shared the points after the rebound from Daniel Foxton's penalty miss was rifled home by James Baxter for Wills Bar and Simon Gilroy equalised.
In division two, Cross Keys finally pocketed a league win after beating Gimcrack 3-1 despite trailing to an Andrew Eden strike.
Wayne Gibson, new boy Paul Lawson and Christopher Moffatt chalked up the win.
Matthew Davies and a Ben Connell double gave Dunnington maximum points in a 3-1 victory over Drum, for whom Stephen Moore found the net. Rose and Crown missed a penalty in their 0-0 draw with Wigginton.
