THE concerted campaign to establish a Hull-York dental school has come to naught.
Ministers were not convinced of the case for a northern centre, despite the success of the new medical school, and have opted to establish one in the south-west only. Labour ministers earn a salary which makes private treatment affordable. But if they were on a typical York wage and needed an NHS dentist here, they would have changed their minds. Their decision will prolong the dental crisis in North Yorkshire. It is nothing less than a kick in the teeth.
