I WOULD like to respond to Jill Edwards of Kexby Parish Council (Letters, January 18).
The meeting at Pocklington Arts Centre concerning safety and flow on the A1079 was called for by parish and town councils in the East Riding.
This was a preliminary meeting to get the issue highlighted.
We were delighted to have the presence of three Dunnington parish councillors and will be working with them in the future. At the meeting it was agreed that we should seek representation from other parish and town councils from York to Hull.
Following the publicity provided by Evening Press chief reporter Mike Laycock, I received a phone call from the chairman of Kexby Parish Council and was delighted to invite Kexby to join the rest of us in the campaign.
If Jill Edwards speaks to John Wilkinson I think she will find that he has had an invitation to our next meeting. Invitations have just been issued.
Members of the A1079 campaign group are anxious to include as many parishes as possible.
If you haven't heard from us and are interested in joining us, please either contact me on 01759 371429 or Hilary@hsaynor.freeserve.co.uk or Nik Ward on 01430 879073 or Nicola.Ward@hwrcc.org.uk and we will make sure you receive future information.
Hilary Saynor,
Member of East Riding of Yorkshire Council,
Firs Garth Lane,
Stamford Bridge.
